In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:269), Allah says, "He grants wisdom to whom He pleases, and whoever is granted wisdom, he indeed is given a great good and none but men of understanding mind." This verse emphasizes the importance of seeking wisdom and knowledge, encompassing both secular and religious domains. By integrating religious studies into academic curricula, schools empower students to cultivate wisdom and understanding across all facets of their education.
Surah Al-Ankabut (29:69) further reinforces this integration, stating, "And those who strive in Our (cause), We will certainly guide them to Our Paths: For verily Allah is with those who do right." Here, Allah promises guidance to those who strive in His cause, indicating that the pursuit of knowledge, including religious studies, is a means of drawing closer to Him. By incorporating religious teachings into academic pursuits, schools facilitate students' spiritual development and deepen their connection to their faith.
Practical applications of integrating religious studies with academic pursuits include incorporating Quranic verses and stories into literature and history classes, exploring ethical dilemmas through the lens of religious teachings in philosophy and ethics courses, and organizing extracurricular activities that promote interfaith dialogue and service inspired by religious values.
