Dawn of a New Era: The Inauguration of New Principal Officers for MSSN UCH Branch and MSSN AGAC

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, University College Hospital (UCH) Branch, and the Agodi-Gate Area Council (AGAC) held a Joint Transitional Conference on Wednesday, 10th January 2024, at the UCH Central Mosque, Ibadan, to usher in a new set of individuals to manage the affairs of the branch and the council for the 1445/46 AH tenure.



The conference involved the presentation of reports by the principal officers of the just concluded tenure (1444/45 AH). Part of the challenges highlighted during the conference from the previous tenure include low attendance of members during meetings and programmes and low funding. It was recommended that inclusivity should be the order of the day in order to foster good relationship among members.

Prior to the appointments, the Shuuroh committee, chaired by Alh. Abduljeleel Abdulrazaq, interviewed various individuals to ensure that they are the best fit for the offices they were appointed into.

An orientation program was organized for the newly constituted executive council on the 13th January 2024, to familiarize them with their duties. The focus of the orientation included secondary school coordination, leadership and followership in Islam, teamwork, and understanding the hierarchy of MSSN. 

In attendance were Prof. AbdulGaniy Raji, Barrister AbdurRahman Olaiya, Alh. Abduljeleel Abdulrazaq, Dr. Ibrahim Fadeyi, Dr. Habib Ogundipe, and the Ameer of MSSN University of Ibadan, Obakemi Ibrahim.

5. PRO – Habib Sobanke (MBBS/400L)

6. Editor-in-Chief – Ridwan Ayomide Agboola (MLS/400L)

7. Ameerah – Mahfuzoh Opeyemi Ojewumi (MBBS/500L)


Others include: Hafsoh Zakariya (Naibatul Ameerah), Elabor Rafiu (Chief Assets Maintenance Officer), AbdulSobur AbdulAzeez (Welfare Officer), Ruqayat Bello (Secretary, Sisters’ Circle).

The new Ameer of MSSN UCH, AbdulQuddus Ajibade urged the newly appointed executives to embrace diligence and integrity in their roles. He also admonished them to work collectively towards set goals, trusting that Allah (SWT) will generously reward everyone's sincere efforts.

May Almighty Allah bestow His guidance and mercy upon the new administration. May their roles be embraced with humility, compassion, and a commitment to justice. May their endeavors reflect the true spirit of Islamic leadership, fostering harmony and progress. Ameen.

Stomach Ulcer Among Medical Students: A Growing Concern

Earlier this year, during my clinical posting at Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital in Ibadan, I encountered a surprising finding. Among the greatest responsibilities as Muslims is the recognition of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah) and the avoidance of Shirk (associating partners with Him).
