HIS WORDS; HIS PEOPLE

A soothing spring for those who thirst, a pleasant guide for those who are lost, nothing else could induce the emerging shiver-relaxation feeling experienced from listening to it, as astounding voices of different individuals young, old, male or female reels off the greatest of His signs, the same way it has been read some 1400 years back. One could imagine oneself among the sahabahs listening to the recitation of Muhammad with exceedingly calmed senses and an oversaturated heart from tremendous rush of enlightenment and unrivaled tranquility. It is indeed an ecstasy to behold!

The 36th national Quran recitation competition in all its glory has been ongoing for the past 2 weeks in the prestigious state of Bauchi. The eventful occasion is an annual program which hosts lots of huffaadh from several states across the country, where each participant recites the Quran while adorning their voices in its most sonorous gab in line with the recitation of the holy Prophet, and the most outstanding reciter gets to represent Nigeria in another global competition.

The northern and western contestants as usual were marvelous with their recitation, steaming up the audience with exceptional qira’at and rewaayat of the Quran like it were their calling. Listeners are tempted to follow every pitch and notes with their body, mind and soul, and consequentially wondering if these sets of individuals were specifically selected by Allah to be the guardian of His book as Allah has said… verily it is we who revealed the dhikr and surely, we will guide it.

Flaming this finesse are the seemingly islamically-less privilege states showing up at their best and blowing away our minds with their awesome recitation. States like Imo, Edo, Akwa-Ibom, Delta amongst others were at their peaks with their participants at each stages. This emphasizes the importance of seeking knowledge regardless of our circumstances, for the people of the Quran are the people of Allah and the closest to Him.
